St. Ignatius of Loyola provides a Grief Support Program, GriefShare, for both our parishioners and members of the community. This program was first offered at St. Ignatius in the Spring of 2015 and has been offered each fall and spring since that time. GriefShare provides help and encouragement after the recent or past death of a spouse, child, family member, or friend.
GriefShare is a faith based and Bible based program led by trained facilitators who are members of the church. Each cycle of GriefShare consists of thirteen weekly sessions. There are three key components to the program that work together to promote healing. These are:
· A Video Seminar – Providing helpful information on grief-related topics
· Group Discussion – Providing support during a discussion of the video
· Review of Daily Exercises – Providing reinforcement of the concepts found in the video
Each participant receives their own copy of the workbook, Your Journey from Mourning to Joy. There is no charge to participate in the program at St. Ignatius.
In addition, St. Ignatius offers two related GriefShare programs, each consisting of just one session. Surviving the Holidays is offered in November each year and Loss of a Spouse is offered in the spring and fall.
