Reconciliation & Eucharist

Hello St. Ignatius of Loyola,
Our staff wanted to give an update as to where we stand with registration regarding fall classes for children, youth and adults.
At this time, we are not accepting registrations for the fall.   We will be having classes, but we are waiting to hear more from the Archdiocese of Baltimore and  Frederick County Schools.    Our class options will look very different than before.   We want to work with our parish families and not overwhelm them, so we will be delaying the start of the Faith Formation year until at least November.  If you have registered members of your family for a class, we will be in touch with you in the near future.
We will have virtual options, potentially in class options (depending on the grade and limited class size) and a family home school component.
In September, we will communicate to the entire parish by September 1st how everyone will be able to register for class, class options and schedules.   Information will be posted on our website, bulletin, email and social media.
Thank you for working with us as we all begin a blessed and creative new year in Faith Formation.
Peace in Christ,
Carol Smith

Preparation for Children to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation (Penance) and Eucharist

First Communion is a very exciting time for a family.   The reception for the first time at the Altar of the most Holy Eucharist is the second Sacrament of Initiation for your child and a blessed day for your family.   As a part of the preparation for Eucharist, all children must be participate in the preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation as a prerequisite.  The preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation is required by the USCCB and the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

Our parish offers two preparation class sessions to choose from, Thursdays 5:30 to 6:30 pm or Saturdays 4:00 to 5:00 pm.   These one hour classes are required.  There are four classes in the fall for Reconciliation and six classes in the spring for Eucharist.

What to do to prepare for the first of many blessed days for your child to participate in the Reconciliation & Eucharistic Sacraments:

  1.  All children must have completed 1 year of Faith Formation in a parish based program or a Catholic School to be eligible.
  2. All children must be currently enrolled in a Faith Formation in our parish based program or a Catholic School to be eligible.
  3. Fill out the Sacramental registration form.
  4. Please attach a copy of your child’s Baptismal Certificate.
  5. Attendance and completion of all requirements.
